On August 17, 2022, CARE International in Lao PDR joined the Lao Federation of Trade Unions for the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding for Protections and Choice for Marginalized Urban Women in Vientiane Capital, Champasack and Savannakhet Provinces Phase III, which CARE will be implementing in 9 factories in Vientiane Capital and the Migration Resource Centers (MRC) in Savannakhet and Champasack Provinces, with the support of the joint ILO-UN Women Safe and Fair Programme as part of the EU-UN Spotlight Initiative.
The project aims to strengthen financial management skills for female migrant workers, including those who have returned and those who want to work abroad, as well as capacity building to prevent and respond to sexual violence (including sexual harassment in the workplace and in the community) for female migrant workers, including both those who have returned and those who want to work abroad. These activities will be implemented from now until November 2022.
Once again, thank you the joint ILO-UN Women Safe and Fair Programme as part of the EU-UN Spotlight Initiative that has seen the importance of these works. This is an exciting opportunity for us to support migrant women to become an economically stronger and be able to deal with sexual violence in their own workplaces and communities.
